ABO & Rh isoimmunization is the major cause of neonatal hyperbilirubinemia. Recently we experienced a case of hemolytic disease of a B, Rho(D)?positive newborn due to IgG Anti-B. The newborn¢¥s mother was 0, Rho(D) negative who had a history of four times of pregnancies, receiving Rho(D) immune globulin immediately after deliveries or abortion to prevent Rho(D) immunization.: The newborn¢¥s red blood cells showed positivity in direct Coombs¢¥test and the specifity was confirmed as IgG anti-B by ether eluates. The mother¢¥s serum treated with gruop specific A, B substance showed IgG. Anti-A titer of 1 : 256, and IgG Anti-B titer of 1 : 2048 by anti-human golbulin phase. The newborn was treated with exchange transfusions with 0 Rho(D) negative packed red cells and fresh AB, Rho(D) positive plasmas, resulting improvement of hyperbilirubinemia.
